Catholic Daughters of the Americas (CDA) instituted Court St. Jane Frances de Chantal #2699 on October 24, 2015 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, The Woodlands, Texas. It was the vision of Terrie Vacek whose hard work and dedication brought one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic women to our parish.
Terrie dedicated many months promoting CDA and recruiting new members for the Court’s inaugural year. After 113 charter members said YES to “Unity, Spirituality and Service.” State Regent Eve Trevino held the courts first meeting wheremembers elected their first court officers: Regent Terrie Vacek, Vice Regent Debbie Ingersoll (a former JCDA member), Recording Secretary Gina Ferreira, Financial Secretary Mary McBride and Treasurer Janis Buice. Being very supportive and familiar with CDA and JCDA, Deacon Tom Vicknair was appointed Charter Court Chaplain.
We had a phenomenal first year! Our service projects and fundraisers were beyond what we expected to accomplish. One of our most profound moments was raising $50,000.00 for the new St. Teresa Center. This new facility on the St. Anthony campus would be the future home of a much needed and larger Food Pantry as well as additional meeting rooms.
May 16, 2016, Court St. Jane de Frances de Chantal #2699 Junior Catholic Daughters (JCDA) for girls ages 6 to 18 was instituted with over fifty charter members. The first officers elected were President Grace Anne Kloesel, First Vice President Abby Garcia, Second Vice President Sydney Eash, Secretary Veronica Flynn, Reporter Tennille Hart, with their Advisor/Treasurer Juliana Snipp. Deacon Bradley Hoover was appointed their Charter Court Chaplain.
To date, we continue to thrive just as much as day one. The Court is filled with passionate members who love helping others through charitable acts in the spirit of Jesus Christ. Court St. Jane Frances de Chantal #2699 and it JCDA is more than just a Court . . . it’s a SISTERHOOD!
Fun Fact: Terrie Vacek, Founding Court #2699 Regent is now the State Secretary for Texas CDA.
